LAW AIMING TO RESTRICT CONTACT WITH CONSUMERS (“LAW STOP DISTURBING”) WAS ENACTED

The legislative initiative “Law Stop Disturbing” was finally enacted on July 10, 2023, as Law 2300 of 2023 (the Law”).

It will therefore enter into force on October 10, 2023, 3 months after being enacted, except for the Registry of Excluded Numbers, for which a grace period of 6 months has been granted (i.e. January 10, 2024).

Note that this Law establishes rules to protect the consumer’s privacy rights in debt collection activities and commercial or advertising communications. The key issues in connection with the Law can be found  in our legal update from may 30 of 2023.
