Ana María has been a partner at Lloreda Camacho & Co since 2009. She is the Director of the Patents Division, with more than 15 years of experience managing and advising on significant patent portfolios for local and multinational companies in diverse areas of technology. She is renowned for her experience and knowledge in the pharmaceutical sector, particularly in biotechnology.
Her main areas of experience are patents, industrial design, and patent dispute resolutions.Ana María is also the co-director of the Life Sciences Department of the firm. She has a wide range of experience with regulatory matters, data privacy, and important dispute resolutions before the high courts in Colombia, as well as lawsuits for patent violations.
Before joining Lloreda Camacho & Co, Ana María worked at the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce, the authority on intellectual property in Colombia.
She earned her law degree from the Universidad del Rosario, along with a graduate degree in Commercial Law from the Universidad Javeriana, a graduate degree in Law and New Life Science Technologies from the Universidad Externado, and graduate degrees in Administrative Procedural Law and Unfair Competition.
Ana María has been ranked by Chambers & Partners as a leading lawyer in life sciences.
She was invited to be a guest speaker at a conference about biotechnology regulation in Colombia, organized by the Center for Studies of the Development of the Chemical-Pharmaceutical Industries in Argentina (CEDIQUIFA) in the Universidad Cayetano Heredia in Perú. In addition, she participated as a speaker about patent protection in Colombia in the German-Colombian Chamber of Commerce. The Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) invited Ana María to be a member of the Academic Committee for Biotechnology Issues in Latin America.
She has authored several publications: “Colombia: Patents Support Economic Development,” published in Doing Business magazine;“Industrial Property as a Tool to Compete in International Markets,” a book she co-authored for the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce; the publication “Industrial Property Aspects of the Free Trade Agreement” for the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, also as co-author. In 2018, Ana María worked alongside with key experts in the publication of the book, “The sanitary regulation of biological and biotechnological products in Colombia”.
