Enrique has been a partner at Lloreda Camacho & Co. since 2001, Director of the Competition Law, Data Privacy & Protection, Labour, Employment and Immigration departments, and Co-Director of the firm’s Life Sciences practice.
Before joining Lloreda Camacho & Co. (1996 as sr. associate), Enrique held the position of Vice President of the legal department at the National Business Association of Colombia – ANDI. He has more than 30 years of experience in corporate law, competition, foreign investment, labour law, mergers and acquisitions, privatizations, joint ventures and regulatory affairs.
Enrique has represented local and foreign companies in investigations of abuse of dominant position, complex dispute litigation involving unfair competition and antitrust before the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce.
Enrique is a leading practitioner in Colombia in the Life Sciences department, according to the Chambers & Partners 2021 review, ¨A client values Enrique Álvarez Posada as “a most knowledgeable lawyer in the pharmaceutical arena.” Another states: “He is marvellous, knows a lot about this topic and explains technical matters very well.”Álvarez routinely counsels an enviable roster of pharmaceutical companies on regulatory matters, including interactions with INVIMA.
Enrique is lawyer from Universidad de los Andes and has a graduate degree in Labor Law from the Universidad Bolivariana. He was awarded an International Scholarship in Active Labor Policies, at the Institute of the International Labor Organization (ILO-UN) in Geneva, Switzerland.
He was a member of the first National Social Security Health Council in Health in which the regulations that structured the current health system were issued under the Law 100 of 1993. He advises the Association of Pharmaceutical Laboratories for Research and Development (AFIDRO).
Enrique is currently an officer in the International Bar Association (IBA) in the Life Science committee.
