María Alejandra joined the firm in 2012, at present she is the Associate Director of the Privacy and Data Protection, and Commercial Contracts practices. She is also part of the Life Sciences team.
She has a law degree (J.D. Equivalent) from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and has a master’s degree in Business Legal Advice from IE Law School (LLM), she also attended the National University of Singapore (NUS) during her master’s studies. María Alejandra has a postgraduate degree in Economics from Universidad de los Andes and obtained the Certificate in Compliance of the Pharmaceutical Sector awarded by Seton Hall Law School.
In the area of privacy and data protection, she advises customers on the application and implementation of the applicable regulation, compliance issues, as well as on comparative regulation mainly in aspects on data transmissions and data transfers; she handles requirements from the competent authority in data protection matters and provides legal opinions.
In the Commercial contracts practice, she has experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating civil and commercial agreements; structuring business strategies from a legal perspective; in-house activities for companies in diverse industries, and provides opinions on these matters.
María Alejandra advises several companies in the pharmaceutical, entertainment, consumer, and technology industries, among others. She is admitted to practice in Colombia and Spain.
