On January 31, 2020, DANE (Colombian Statistics Agency) certified that the unemployment percentage for 2019 was 10.5%. Accordingly, as of February 1st, 2020, Colombian National Training Service (SENA)’s apprentice allowance corresponding to the practical phase will be reduced from 100% of the legal minimum monthly salary to 75% of the legal minimum monthly salary (Article 30, Law 789 of 2002; Article 2.2.6.3.33, Decree 1072 of 2015).
Therefore, the total allowance will be equivalent to:
- Theorical phase: COP $438,902 per month (approx. USD $129 per month).
- Practical phase: COP $658,352 per month (approx. USD $ 194 per month).
