The National Government issued Decree 0173 of 2026, creating a temporary wealth tax for legal entities. This measure seeks to raise additional resources to address the economic and social emergency caused by recent climatic events in several regions of the country.
Excluded Entities
The following are not required to pay this tax:
- Companies in the health sector.
- Companies under state intervention.
- Public utility companies located in municipalities that have declared a state of calamity within the area affected by the economic, social, and ecological emergency.
Taxable Event
The wealth tax, as provided in numeral 6 of Article 292-3 of the Tax Code, is triggered by the possession of wealth as of March 1, 2026, with a value equal to or greater than 200,000 UVT.
- For 2026, the UVT is set at COP $52,374, which represents a threshold of COP $10,474,800,000.
- Net wealth is calculated by taking gross wealth (assets) and subtracting outstanding debts as of that same date.
Applicable Rates
The wealth tax for fiscal year 2026 will apply at two differentiated rates:

Filing and Payment Deadlines
The DIAN will issue the official form. Taxpayers must comply with the following dates:
